On the sign it read "Buegelstudio"; my neighbors run a business ironing people's clothes for money. Apparently they have quite a few customers. My landlady is an avid gardener, much like her neighbors. Here are some plants I encounter on my way to my door:

A glance around the neighborhood will show that this is pretty common. Everyone has ivy climbing over their roofs, windows, and trees. Her friends just a few houses down even have actual grape vines draped over the roof of their patio with green bunches hanging down. This shot of the path heading to my door is just part of what she has planted around the house:
As I mentioned, she was very amused when I asked where the dryer was. Here is my "dryer" now:
Yep. Just hanging in the breeze. It's a little surreal to me. At any rate, her neighbors are moving and they're letting me have their dryer while they're gone! As much as I've enjoyed putting my laundry on display for everyone, I think I'll be happy to have things dried in 60minutes rather than 2 days again. Here's a view of the gas station next to the grocery store (Rewe). I picked this picture, as it is pretty representative of everyday life, I think. It's just something ordinary here that is still so different from back home.
In the same vein, here's what all the mail men drive around here:
To the left is another view of the central trainstation in Wiesbaden. The picture doesn't quite show it, but there are 5 buses just within view here and there were actually 2 more just to the left. The point is: the transportation is very good here. Here are a few products just for comparison I guess (why are the twix freakishly long?):

And finally, an apple pie my landlady baked and shared with me : )

Germans LOVE gardening. At least German-Americans do (Cases in point: my dad, my HS chairman, my neighbor lady).
That gas station doesn't look that different from the US...
Well, it's more about what's in the gas station. From the outside it looks pretty much the same, but inside it's like a liquor mart except classier. Instead of selling tons of chips, jerky, gatorade, cigarette lighters, and the usual stuff, it's shelves and shelves of local wines and different beers. Very different from the usual Box O' Beer in a case you usually find in the refrigerated section only.
